Some of the debates are yet to be announced.

If you’re not already a Corbynista or a confirmed Smithite, and you want to shape the future of the Labour party, you could find the Labour leadership debates pretty handy.

Labour has promised to hold nine official debates around the country – all available to watch live on the party’s website.

But there’s one problem. So far, only six of the nine Labour leadership debates have been confirmed.

According to Labour List, a dispute has broken out between the rival campaigns about availability for a debate – which never happened – on 1 August.

Smith, a relative unknown, has the most to gain from televised debates. Corbyn, on the other hand, is already packing out halls around the country.

You can submit questions for the debates on the Labour website here.

The first debate will be hosted by Catrin Haf Jones, from ITV Cymru Wales, on Thursday 4 August. It will be held at in the main hall of the All Nations Centre, Cardiff for Labour members. The debates have received little publicity online, so Labour members may be better off checking their inboxes.

The debates so far:

  • Cardiff: 7pm to 9.30pm Thursday 4 August
  • Gateshead: 7pm to 9.30pm Thursday 11 August
  • Nottinghamshire: Wednesday 17 August - BBC
  • Birmingham: Thursday 18 August
  • Glasgow: Thursday 25 August
  • London: Thursday 1 September
